Chennai-Bengaluru: Hyper Loop Train Project

Chennai:

Hyper Loop The Railway Board will conduct a feasibility study to implement the Hyper loop train project in

India. Hyper Loop Tenders have been invited for selection of shares for this.

The use of various new technologies to improve the world’s transportation facilities is constantly being

researched. In India, high speed transport facilities including Vande Bharat Train and Bullet Train are

being implemented. The next step is hyperloop transportation. The Indian Railway Board will conduct a

feasibility study for this.

Hyperloop technology: in a capsule, traveling inside a vacuum tube. Hyperloop is a technology that

propels this capsule using magnetic waves. For this, like railway bridges, special pillars are erected and

pipes are laid on top of them. Inside that tube are travel capsules. Passengers sit inside the capsule. As

the capsule is propelled by magnetic waves, the capsule travels through the tube like a train on a track.

Speed:

Speaking at an event in California in 2012, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he was researching a new

form of transportation that could reach speeds of 1,200 kilometers per hour. After this, Tesla and SpaceX

jointly developed a technology called Hyperloop. In 2020, Virgin Hyperloop tested Hyperloop pods at

speeds of up to 170 km/h.

Hyperloop in India: Hyperloop Transportation Technologies plans to build a Hyperloop between Mumbai

and Pune. It is said that if hyperloop transport is introduced, it will be possible to travel from Mumbai to

Pune in 35 minutes. Maharashtra government is taking steps to get approval for this project.

IIT Chennai:

Sfrom the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at IIT Chennai are researching

the Hyperloop transport system. 8.50 crores has been provided by the Railway Department for this

purpose. Chennai IIT plans to start freight transport in 2025 and labor transport through Hyperloop in

2030. It is also said that you can go from Chennai to Bengaluru in 25 minutes.

Feasibility Study:

The Railway Board is going to conduct a feasibility study for the implementation of

Hyperloop transport project in India. The Railway Board has issued a tender to select a consultant to

conduct the study. This will include feasibility study, pilot implementation, financial resources etc.

Next 8 years: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said a few days back, “In India, the bullet train will be in

general use by 2026 and the hyperloop transport project will be operational in the next 7-8 years.

According to this, it is not too far to go from Chennai to Kanyakumari on the hyperloop.”
